Joint Drugs Controller Dr S Eswara Reddy has been appointed as the new Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI) for the next three months till regularly appointed person takes charge.
According to a circular issued by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare, Dr GN Singh has been relieved from the post with immediate effect.
Dr GN Singh was appointed as the DCGI in 2012.
Drug Controller General of India under the gamut of Central Drugs Standard Control Organization is responsible for approval of licenses of specified categories of drugs such as blood and blood products, IV fluids, vaccines and sera in India.
