• Maharastra CM Fadnavis launches MMC’s first accredited online CME portal

    Medical science is dynamic and there is no end of learning for a doctor. This is in essence the concept of continuing medical education (CME). Tremendous advances are taking place in the field of medical sciences, which are continuously changing the concept, approach to management and the outcome of several diseases.

    The rapid pace of these advances makes it mandatory for doctors to keep themselves updated so that they may apply this information to the patient’s well-being and improve the quality of care rendered to them. A doctor must always strive to enhance his/her competence and knowledge by keeping abreast with the latest development in the field of medicine.

    Maharashtra Medical Council (MMC), under the Digital India initiative of Government of Maharashtra, is launching state of the art Online CME portals for doctors for the first time in the state in association with digital partner Omnicuris. These online CME modules are under the aegis of reputed Medical Institutes /Associations such as Tata Memorial Centre, MUHS, AIP, IAP, IOA, ISAR, IAVDL etc.

    Through the enhanced learning experience of this online platform and accessibility over smartphone/computer in the comfort of one’s home or clinic, we are taking continuous medical education to the next level. RMPs can now earn online CME credits at their convenience as per the regulations of MMC.

    CMEs are intended for practising doctors as well as postgraduate students to update their knowledge as well as stay updated with the latest developments in medicine. The main features of the online platform include access from their mobile or laptops at their convenience, highly engaging video lectures from top experts accredited by reputed Associations/ Institutes, face recognition for identity validation etc. The guidelines for accreditation shall be notified online on MMC’s website.

    Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra said, “Government of Maharashtra in collaboration with Maharashtra Medical Council has launched online CME platform to continuously improve the knowledge and skills of RMPs in the state. This initiative can significantly improve quality of RMPs in the state and enable better patient care.”

    Girish Mahajan, Minister of Medical Education of Maharashtra said, “this new digital platform will bring the latest in medical education at the doorstep of doctors which will go a long way in giving the best of medical treatment to all patients of Maharashtra, especially from rural areas and small towns. We request all doctors to take advantage of this digital platform to enhance their knowledge.”

    President, MMC Dr Shivkumar Utture said, “Maharashtra Medical Council is the first council to launch accredited online CME’s in India. This would enhance the knowledge of RMP’s especially in their field of practice/speciality as they would get easy access to latest in the medical field developed by highly qualified professionals of National and International repute.”

    Maharashtra Council Members Dr Ajeet Gupchade and Dr Vinky Raghuwani were also present at the event.
